Step into Vail’s Future – Reserve Your Family’s Place on Vail’s Main Street ─ Buy a Legacy Brick

Every Vail Family Inspiring Vail’s Future on Main Street is Our Goal!

Reserve YOUR Family’s Place on Vail’s Main Street – Colossal Cave Road with a specially engraved 4”X8” brick at the future Welcome to Vail art sites to be installed along Colossal Cave Road in early 2017 as part of the road widening project. The Welcome to Vail art installations will beautify, build a sense of place and help to define Vail as a distinct community with a more than 136 year history.

The project is built upon our partnerships with Pima County and is the culmination of four years of community work by residents ranging in age from 9-80. Some served in working groups identifying needs, like seating and shade, and themes. The art celebrates Vail’s natural and cultural history, will create visually pleasing spaces that enhance quality of life and will promote Vail as a gateway to the Arizona Trail, Cienega Creek Preserve, Saguaro National Park East, Colossal Cave Mountain Park and Charron Vineyard, while celebrating our rich heritage.

The two mural sites will each have a brick hardscape. The legacy bricks will be incorporated into these hardscapes and will be part of a multi-use pathway on the east side of Colossal Cave Road. This opportunity to include your family, honor a loved one, remember a pet, commemorate a special event or promote your business or have your logo engraved is possible only in 2016. We must order the bricks with plenty of lead time for installation in February or March of 2017. Once the hardscapes are installed there will be no further opportunity to reserve your family’s or business’s place.

Funds raised will fund the purchase and engraving of the bricks, historic preservation projects, and establish a maintenance fund for Vail’s art and interpretive installations. VPS will not leave the maintenance of Vail’s public art and interpretive sites to chance. The establishment of a maintenance fund and regularly scheduled maintenance will ensure that our public art remains in great shape and enhances our community for years to come.

The art is funded by The Vail Preservation Society through grants and donations, and installation made possible through our public/private partnership with Pima County. The Welcome to Vail art installations are hand-crafted by youth from Acacia Elementary, Cienega High School, Empire High School, Esmond Station K8, Ocotillo Ridge Elementary, Old Vail Middle School, Baboquivari Middle/High School, teachers, and community members guided by local artist Royce Davenport and the staff at Santa Theresa Tileworks. Art works! It is a great way to connect community, provide amenities like shade and seating, engage residents in its creation and build relationships.
